Sacramento StateCollege of Continuing EducationConsensus and Collaboration ProgramPosition SummaryThe Associate Facilitator position provides analytical and administrative support to project teams composed of all levels of Consensus and Collaboration Program (CCP) facilitators / mediators and project managers.About the Consensus and Collaboration ProgramCCP has been part of Sacramento State for close to 30 years; being formed in 1992 (formerly known as the Center for Collaborative Policy). A program of the College of Continuing Education, our mission is to build the capacity of public agencies, stakeholder groups, and the public to use collaborative strategies to improve social and policy outcomes. CCP is one of the largest university-based, stakeholder-engagement and collaborative process organizations in the U.S. With an average staff of 20 practitioners and additional administrative and graphics support teams, we specialize in providing neutral, third-party services to diverse stakeholders on a wide range of policy topics throughout California and the western U.S.Position DescriptionThis is a contract position. The candidate will be take and summarize notes from a facilitated meeting with an ability during and after to reframe participant comments in an objective, clear manner and create a record that will be distributed to meeting participants and/or used as the basis for future reports. Excellent listening, synthesis, and writing skills are required.The candidate must remain objective during complex meeting facilitations and maintain neutrality to support a collaborative process.The candidate must interact with a diverse range of stakeholders involved in collaborative processes; provide key follow-up communication with stakeholders and use good judgment and listening skills to communicate accurately and objectively, as well as ensure that critical stakeholder concerns are relayed accurately and rapidly to more senior CCP staff.The candidate must be able to provide outstanding logistical support, including setting up and breaking down meetings; coordinating follow-up communication; conducting stakeholder interviews; and developing meeting agendas and plans.The candidate must have experience working with diverse cultural conditions including but not limited to historically disadvantaged and disenfranchised sectors of the California population.Lastly, the candidate must have an aptitude for and an interest in how public policy is developed in a wide range of policy sectors.Experience:Experience in planning meetings, preparing meeting agendas and capturing and documenting notes.Experience with, or training in facilitating meetings.Experience with historically disadvantaged / disenfranchised communities.Knowledge of and Interest In: Consensus building and public participation concepts.Collaborative policy making practice and theory.Public engagement and outreach.Meeting facilitation methods.Supporting diverse cultural differences between affected stakeholders and creating inclusive spaces for said stakeholders to problem solve complex policy issuesAn ability to, apply research methods and procedures to gather and summarize complex policy information.Skills/Abilities:Document technical and interpersonal discussions (including conditions of conflict), using excellent listening, memorialization, and paraphrasing skills to process details and nuances from multi-party discussions into balanced, representative summaries of said discussions.Excellent communication (written/verbal) skills, with the ability to write reports on complex, multi-topic conditions, and lead small group discussions.Excellent organizational and project coordination skills; the ability to use efficient time management to work under deadlines, and to manage complex details.Ability to use web-based facilitation and meeting management tools (e.g. Zoom, Go-To Meeting/Webinar, WebEx, Doodle, etc.).Ability to work with, set up and manage content in various social media platforms.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external contacts at all levels using tact and diplomacy.Strong computer skills with expertise using standard office software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite), with experience using the Internet, Adobe Acrobat, and similar tools, as well as networked computer systems and peripherals (e.g. computer projectors, collating copier/printer server).Multi-lingual (including English) with a preference in but not limited to Spanish fluency.Qualified applicants should send a cover letter and current resume in .pdf format to:Dave Ceppos, Managing Senior MediatorAll emails and resumes will remain confidential.Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, ContractPay: From $98,000.00 per yearSchedule:Monday to FridayFull Time Opportunity:YesWork Location:Multiple locationsHours per week:20-2930-39Benefit Conditions:Only full-time employees eligibleWork Remotely:Temporarily due to COVID-19COVID-19 Precaution(s):Remote interview processPersonal protective equipment provided or requiredSocial distancing guidelines in placeVirtual meetingsShow more
