SIOUX FALLS YMCA JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Gym Supervisor Status: Part-time, non-exemptDepartment: Basketball program Reports to: Basketball CoordinatorRevision Date: January 2021POSITION SUMMARY: The Gym Supervisor is responsible for overseeing recreational programs being conducted at an assigned facility, and shall have the authority to remove any participant who threatens the success of any YMCA sponsored program. Supervisors are required to work two nights per week at gym venues with a minimum of eight days per month (or find replacement). Hours will be between 6:00 and 10:00 pm Mon-Fri and 7:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Open the assigned gym 30 minutes before the scheduled program and close the facility at the conclusion of the program, unless otherwise instructed by theProgram Director-Youth Sports.Set-up and operate all required equipment, such as basketball chairs, time clocks and scoreboards.Enforce the start and stop times for each activity.Restore the facility to a high degree of cleanliness and order after the program by picking up garbage and sweeping the gymnasium floor.Check all facility doors and lights to be sure that they are locked, and lights are off. The school custodian must be paged when entering the building to set up and when leaving to lock up.Return keys, program results, reports and recreation equipment to the appropriate location.Record program results and scores for all activities taking place at the assigned facility.Communicate with coaches and teams to assist in creating a successful program for all players and coaches involved.Enforce safety policies.Supervisors are responsible to collect game scores and report them to theProgram Director.QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent.Must be Adult, Infant & Child CPR trained and certified or willing to be certified within 30 days from hire.Previous knowledge of YMCA missionPrevious supervision experienceWORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasionally required to sit and walk.Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.Frequently required to talk or hear.Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Occasionally required to bend, twist or climb.Moderate concentration/intensity, which includes prolonged mental effort with limited opportunity for breaks.Moderate level of complexity for decision making.Job Type: Part-timePay: $12.00 – $14.00 per hourBenefits:Flexible scheduleSchedule:Monday to FridayWeekend availabilityEducation:High school or equivalent (Preferred)Experience:Basketball: 1 year (Preferred)Work Location:Multiple locationsWork Remotely:NoWork Location: Multiple LocationsShow more
