Applied Composites (AC) is seeking a Composite Technician 1 – Grinder who will be responsible for grinding, sanding, filling fiberglass and composite products to meet finish requirements. If you are looking for a company that values and develops its employees while offering engaging work, Applied Composites may be the place for you.Job Accountabilities:Read and follow basic instructions and diagrams in English.Grinds, repairs, and cleans molded composite parts preparatory to assembly, using hand tools portable power tools.Attaches abrasive disk to grinder and grinds molded parts to remove excess material smooth edges.Checks flange of molded parts with thickness gauge for defining if more grinding is necessary.Trims excess material extending from edge.Applies material to required areas to repair surfaces, using various toolsGrind, sand, clean, or polish objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power toolsVerify quality of finished workpieces by inspecting them, comparing them to templates, measuring their dimensionsMay work from verbal and/or written Manufacturing Order Instructions.Transfer equipment, objects, or parts to specified work areas, using moving devicesMay occasionally perform common task outside the scope of this job description in support of production operations.Additional Responsibilities:Performs all other duties as assigned.Minimum Position Qualifications:Education: Requires a High School Diploma/GED or combination of relevant education and work experience may be substituted to meet educational requirements only.Experience: Entry level – no experience required.Licensure/Certification: NoneKnowledge / Skills / Abilities:Possesses excellent technical management and communication skills.Ability to manage time to get work completed on schedule.Ability to communicate process issues with leads, supervisors, and engineering.Ability to coordinate work flow with other departments.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment performing accurate and quality products.Preferred Position Qualifications:Education: High School Diploma/GED preferredExperience:Two (2) plus years’ experience preferred.Knowledge in the aerospace industry is highly desirable.Familiar with Lean Manufacturing Principles preferred.Other: Bilingual English/Spanish a plusBenefits:At Applied Composites, we recognize how important your career and benefits are to you and your family.
