Job Description – Overview

The Creative Manager provides leadership, inspiration, vision and direction to guide teams in achieving the highest possible standards in the design and development of all creative content. This individual fully comprehends clients’ highly complex creative challenges and leads innovative and conceptual solutions to address them. This individual supports peers in managing client relationships, creating workflow efficiencies and providing full-service support to clients and cross-functional teams. This individual also supervises the professional growth and development of direct reports to encourage and maintain a healthy and productive department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads and motivates teams in the development of project initiatives and fulfillment of Art/Creative Department objectives and needs
Builds a collective team vision and defines goals and objectives
Works closely with other Leaders on various needs for the department and sets a tone of partnership between peers and department teams
Leads with a passion that energizes the team in an effort to increase employee engagement, team morale, overall job satisfaction and retention
Holds teams accountable to push new thinking and challenge cliché and overused ideas
Holds self and teams accountable to practicing consistent and timely communication
Stewards new ideas with confidence and diplomacy
Owns the client relationship and ensures teams are regularly meeting or exceeding expectations
Works with clients to articulate creative needs
Informs clients of cost saving and leveraging opportunities aligned with marketing efforts
Finds common ground with clients when debating design or strategic opinions and balances client desires, business requirements and design standards
Builds strong relationships to serve clients as a credible and trusted advisor
Directs multiple, complex, large-scale project and activities while effectively managing work of design teams
Delegates effectively
Provides creative guidance and art direction to ensure consistent alignment with inspiration and vision
Distributes critical information
Reviews and approves all due diligence and creative output
Gathers market data on key trends and integrates them into design concepts, strategically planning for future seasons
Creates a safe environment for constructive feedback
Shares positive and/or corrective feedback that is timely and direct
Identifies and diplomatically resolves conflicts and concerns while partnering with HR
Completes performance reviews identifying development/training needs and addresses employee issues and concerns
Facilitates employee growth through coaching, training, development and encouraging others to take on roles that provide exposure to the broader organization
Manages overall personnel and analyzes direct operating budget
Assists Executive Leadership with Special Events
Ensures direct reports maintain organized, clean and safe workspaces
Follows all Art/Creative safety policies and procedures including the proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment).
Adapts to additional duties and tasks
Contributes to team effort by fulfilling responsibilities with a positive attitude

Ability to manage and analyze personnel needs and operating costs
Ability to direct developing and experienced designers/crafters/stylists
Passion for design, art trends and style
An exceptional eye for design
Current and expanding knowledge of industry trends
Broad understanding of traditional and emerging channels
Strong understanding of design and print/web production
Strong creative conceptualization skills
Excellent technical and creative problem-solving skills while maintaining attention to process improvement
Excellent attention to detail
Strong organizational, time and project management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including strong negotiation and persuasion skills
Ability to give, accept and apply critique and feedback
Basic knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite
Ability to work in variety of indoor, outdoor and warehouse conditions
Ability to repetitively lift up to 20 pounds while bending, stooping and climbing up and down ladders or stairs
Ability to repetitively push and pull
Ability to sit, stand and/or walk for long periods of time
Able to occasionally be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and/or potentially hazardous materials
Proficient Mac and Microsoft Office Skills
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Ability to perform Key Responsibilities as described with or without accommodation
Ability to perform job duties at the corporate office in Oklahoma City (Accommodation for location flexibility, such as telecommuting, is not available.)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree required
Advertising or In-House agency experience required
3 or more years previous direct report management required
5 or more years of comparable work experience
