Position: Meat Department Manager Classification: SalariedWork Schedule: Varies FLSA Status: ExemptFTE: [ ]FTPosition Summary Oversees employees and directs operations of Meat department and other areas of the warehouse. Addresses personnel issues and oversees tasks performed by supervisors and employees. Responsible to understand, teach, and maintain our culture, core values and ethics. This is a full-time management/leadership position (45+ hours per week).Job Duties/Essential Functions Observes employee performance, coaching as needed to ensure department, business and company procedures and standards are met.Reviews work product, monitors workload and sets standards for productivity and accuracy.Conducts yearly performance reviews and provides regular coaching and training to all staff.Responds to employee concerns using problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion in accordance with the Costco EmployeeAgreement and other applicable regulations.Develops and maintains a team atmosphere through communication and mentoring. Establishes new ways of acknowledging positive performance to support employee morale.Reviews applicant submissions for job postings, conducts interviews and makes recommendations regarding hiring status.Schedules, develops, counsels, trains, and directs department personnel. Makes recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination to Warehouse Manager.Reviews department profit and loss statement. Develops and implements sales and merchandising plan for department.Observes employee performance to ensure proper department production procedures and standards are followed. Drafts and participates in presentation of employee performance appraisals. Reviews and approves area timecards.Determines production requirements and participates in meat cutting and uses band saw, and tenderizer.Puts wrapped and labeled meat on large trays of large wheeled cart and stocks in display case by reaching through sliding windows or moving rack to floor.Checks quality and consistency of finished product. Oversees product presentation and merchandising.Implements and upholds safety and security procedures. Review sanitation log and checks for health code compliance, such as sanitation standards, temperatures, and pull dates.Approves and submits physical inventory periodically (13 times per year). Approves and submits orders to buying office for equipment, product and supplies.Coordinates proper maintenance and repairs for machinery, equipment, and implements.Provides and ensures prompt and courteous member service. Ensures proper disposal of potentially hazardous materials.Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.This is a full-time management/leadership position (45+ hours per week).Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery Computer, copier, phone, fax, band saw, tenderizer, meat grinder, Wrapper, PUMA meat slicer.Non-Essential Functions Assists with Front End duties as necessary.Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery Cash register, tabletop/hand-held scanners, carts, flatbeds.Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications Required: *Meat cutter experience requiredMust provide proof of readiness rating.
