Membership DirectorThe Merrimack Valley YMCA is looking for a dynamic leader to join our growing team. The Membership Director will focus on strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Executive Director, She/He will drive new membership sales as well as efforts to maximize membership retention and ensure member satisfaction. The Membership Director will develop, implement, and evaluate programs, initiatives, and policies designed to increase and retain membership for the Andover/North Andover Branch. He/she will develop plans and implement procedures and processes to achieve membership goals. This person is responsible for maintaining the highest-quality customer service, including but not limited to meeting internal and external customer needs and presenting and nurturing a positive attitude about the Y, it’s staff, and programs.OUR CULTURE: Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture. To thrive in this role you must have a strong sense of compassion and understanding, and an interest in working directly with youth, and the ability to communicate effectively with children, education teams, and colleagues.QUALIFICATIONS: · Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English).· Bachelor’s degree in human services, social services, recreation, business or related equivalent.· Three or more years of membership and/or sales experience, preferably in a YMCA or nonprofit agency.· Emotional maturity to handle significant items of a confidential nature.· Strong technical proficiencies (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc).· Self-starter with a desire to learn, grow, contribute to creative solutions, and be a part of a positive team.· Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as required to attend programs and community events.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe Membership Director is directly responsible for:Meeting or exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual membership goals as identified in the branch’s annual operating plans by fostering a climate of innovation, and implementing membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of old members.Demonstrating consistent excellence in sales and closing techniques, telephone and in-person service, prospective and current member engagement, and regular measurable follow up of prospective members.Analyzing membership data and producing periodic reports and weekly dashboards for appropriate staff and stakeholders. Utilizing active data analysis processes for ongoing predictive modeling of membership trends.Ensuring appropriate systems and data measurements are in place for the tour/sale process, in line with association best practices, strategies, and initiatives.5. Developing and executing a detailed and measureable member retention strategy. Regularly measure member satisfaction, ensuring increasing trends in all areas.Community outreach in furtherance of membership goals, including through grassroots efforts, building relationships and partnerships with community leaders, local businesses, and local government, and the membership acquisition work that is key to the sustainability of our member-based organization. Represent the Y at events, trade shows and functions where membership sales potential exists.7. Conducting prospective member tours; demonstrating excellence in customer service by understanding member goals, interests, and priorities to match members with appropriate Y experiences.Developing strategies to motivate all Y staff to own and achieve membership goals. Recognize and promote member service, acquisition and retention as the primary responsibility of all staff throughout the association.Developing, implementing, and evaluating internal membership retention strategies with member promotions, member appreciation days, member recognition, and other incentives or recognition.Providing and modeling excellent member service; exceeding member expectations by creating a member-focused culture throughout the Branch.Modeling relationship-building skills and listening first skills in all interactions.Monitoring monthly financial reports to ensure that revenue targets are met or exceeded, and taking appropriate action to correct variances. Maintaining expenditures within established budget guidelines, while completing all budget reports, projections, statistics and drafts in a timely fashion.Creating an inclusive environment where everyone belongs and feels welcome.Assuring a safe environment with effective risk management measures employed at all times.15. Serving as MOD, on rotation.16. All additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director and His/Her designees, intended to serve the needs of the organization and its members.The Membership Director is also expected to work collaboratively:With the Executive Director, to develop and execute strategies to maintain current corporate memberships, as well as recruit new corporate memberships from the service area. Support corporate memberships to ensure satisfaction and continued partnerships by understanding and serving the needs and goals of Corporations and their members;With the Branch leadership as an integral member of the management team to recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and supervise membership staff and volunteers at the Andover/North Andover Y in regards to membership sales, delegate appropriate responsibilities to staff in order to accomplish membership goals,. Review and evaluate staff performance as required;3. With the Association and Branch leadership teams on philanthropy efforts including but not limited to playing an active role in the annual campaign, recruiting campaigners, and serving where needed on planning committees;4. With the Branch leadership team on outreach efforts which will include regular participate in and support of community activities, thereby growing the Y’s community outreach efforts and positive community impact;5. With the Branch management team to work collaboratively on programs, promotions, building coverage, and other day-to-day responsibilities that may be required to support essential operations and priorities.With the Branch management team to design and implement programming to attract and retain membership base.7. With the Marketing and Communications department to coordinate all membership promotional efforts and campaigns throughout the year to achieve monthly, quarterly, & annual goals.With the Executive Director on the development and management of the annual membership budget.9.
