Job DescriptionNature and Scope: The System Administrator’s role is to manage, tune and advance computer software systems and network connections to ensure high levels of security and availability for supported business applications. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system and account (user, machine and service) provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals and policies, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Key to this role is keeping the customer’s (user’s) experience front and center and taking out complexity and delay from their day-to-day activities.Minimum Requirements: Associates degree in Computer Science or Information Systems required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.Experience in a multi-site, multi-vendor, hybrid cloud environment is desired.Microsoft environment (Windows Server, Azure, SharePoint, Office 365, Active Directory)Identity and Access Management tools (e.g. Okta, Centrify, Azure B2C)IT service management practices (e.g. ITIL, COBIT, MOF, Dev Ops)Knowledge about the YMCA Movement a plusThirst for knowledge, intellectual curiosity.Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.Logical and efficient.Thinks critically, evaluates assumptions and has a keen attention to detail.Highly self-motivated and directed, and works independently with minimal supervision.Responsibilities: Strategy & Planning: Understand the organization’s current and future business needsMaintain up-to-date knowledge of deployed infrastructure and software within scope of responsibilityCollaborate with all IT teams to ensure smooth, reliable and secure operation of software and systemsParticipate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and softwareIdentify opportunities to upgrade technology to improve service, contain/reduce cost and support long-term goalsEvaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent recurring issuesAlert management to emerging trends in incidents.Acquisition & Deployment: Participate in projects to acquire, install, maintain / upgrade and repair the environment, coordinating with network and server engineering, business application teams, and database administration functionsEnhance existing solutions in accordance with standard best operating procedures and YMCA baselines and goalsMonitor and report progress, manage issues and accomplish desired results within specified timeframes and budgetsDeploy equipment and software using automated deployment toolsAssist in software releases and rollouts according to change management best practices.Service Delivery & Operational Management: Manage all infrastructure, operating systems and end-user softwareManage connection solutions, including workstation connectivity, local area networks, company web site, intranet, and internet-based applicationsManage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory complianceEnsure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory complianceInvestigate and resolve problematic activity, and put corrective actions into place within SLA targetsEscalate incidents with accurate documentation to suitable IT team member or vendor, when required, and stay engaged to ensure timely resolutionPromptly inform management of any critical issues, especially inappropriate computer hardware or software use, so systems are not abused and the organization’s integrity is not compromisedPerform network and security auditsPerform and test routine system backups and restoresMaintain asset inventories and related documentation and technical specifications informationSupport application development teams throughout project lifecyclesAnalyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performanceRecommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchasesConduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development effortsCreate required reports in response to business user needsParticipate in negotiations with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and servicesDevelop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate useEnsure change, incident and problem management, and all other IT procedures are followed.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrate YMCA mission driven values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and integrate into work environment and ways of workAdhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in YMCA’s Employee Handbook, Ethics Policy and elsewhere.SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Does not provide administrative leadership to others.
