The team you would be joining is passionate about finding affordable housing regardless of the challenges they face.ECHO is currently looking for Veteran’s Outreach Team Member openings in our Myrtle Beach office.Eastern Carolina Housing Organization (ECHO) is a non-profit homeless coalition serving the 13 northeastern counties of South Carolina (SC) and 3 counties in North Carolina (NC). The main corporate office is located in Myrtle Beach, SC with satellite offices in Sumter and Florence, SC.The role of the Veteran’s Outreach Team Member is to achieve the goals and objectives determined by the organization, grant agreements, and additional funders. These responsibilities include promoting the development of proven and effective outreach strategies/approaches, including innovative practices. The Veteran’s Outreach Team Member works directly with homeless or unstably housed veterans and their families to assess eligibility, evaluate resources, needs, and barriers and make referrals to the appropriate program or agency. This role is responsible for orchestrating and conducting outreach efforts. The Veteran’s Outreach Team Member will operate under the Housing First approach and is committed to affirmatively furthering fair housing. Empathy for the homeless or those at risk of being homeless is critical in this position.Responsibilities: · Community outreach and identification of those who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness· Resolve housing crises for those at imminent risk of homelessness· Help participants resolve barriers to housing placement and retention, addressing needs involving legal, health, transportation, child care, or other concerns that contribute to housing instability· Follow the Housing First, client-centered approach to serving program participants· Transport clients in company vehicle when necessary· Perform other related duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications: · Excellent verbal and written communication skills· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills· Ability to function well in a high-paced environment· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software· Ability to document all interactions with clients in a clear, unbiased language· Ability to take innovative and creative approaches to difficult situations· Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record· High School diploma or GEDDesired Qualifications: · College degree· At least two years in determining eligibility for Federal/State Housing programs preferred· General knowledge of standard office equipment· Experience with trauma-informed services and motivational interviewing is preferredExperience with motivational interviewing and practicesExperience with trauma-informed services and practicesA veteran of the US MilitaryJob Type: Full-timeJob Type: Full-timePay: $38,000.00 – $40,000.00 per yearBenefits:Dental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftMonday to FridayEducation:High school or equivalent (Preferred)License/Certification:Driver’s License (Required)Work Location: One locationShow more
